DescriptionCherry, brass (latch). Candlestand, square tilt-top Chippendale stand. Three reverse-curved legs with snake feet with slight pads, dovetailed into base of center shaft. Tops of legs and base of shaft chamfered and notched. Shaft turned with straight base, urn of cup shape and tall tapering section. Strips beveled at each end. Brass latch screwed into bottom of top. Top is of two pieces of wood joined together. Square with rounded corners and serpentine sides; edges molded. Varnished.

Tolman Catalog, Tolman Number 77: "Light Stand. Mrs. Molly Brown. She died June 8, 1823; was wife of Lieut. Reuben Brown, who lived in the house now owned by the Concord Antiquarian Society."
