DescriptionGoffering iron with stand. Tripod stand with socket into which slides iron with shaft and wood handle. Stand has three reverse curve legs attached, brazed or cast with it (?) to turned center section. Turnings: reel at base, then urn with four incised rings, then long tapering section with small ring in center, small reel at top with ring. From bottom through center is iron bar. Socket is brass tube with rounded, closed end, and ring turnings at open end. Walls of socket thick. Socket attached to stand at open end with iron bolt that fits threaded top end of stand. Iron consists of thin iron rod on one end of which is solid iron bulb, straight and slightly tapered toward tip. Other end of iron has lathe-turned wooden handle, painted black. Solid end fits into socket, and can be removed.
