DescriptionTall clock. Brass, iron, steel; cherry, maple stringing, ebony inlay, eastern white pine. The eight-day, weight-driven mechanism with anchor recoil escapement, rack and snail strike, and seconds and calender dials is filled with an elaborate painted dial that incorporates paired birds and a landscape with courting couple in the tympanum. The case is fully developed with pierced fretwork, inlaid quarter fans and patera, and brass capitals and bases mounted on the engaged quarter columns. The columns on the hood are installed flush with the plane of the door.
