DescriptionBrass, with tortoise shell lid, octagonal lid. Lid of shell, painted red on under side. Framed in brass, serrated along the inside edge, and is studded with small gold or brass nails arranged in a lacy border. Design of pique gold or brass work in the center is much broken. Bottom engraved with a scroll and flower design which terminates in the head of an animal, and is surrounded by a wide conventional border. Strong brass hinge. Lock crude, of iron, from which the small catch for closing is missing.
