DescriptionJapanned or tole tinplate box with hinged lid. Flat on all sides except lid, which is slightly curved. Sides of box flanged and soldered together. Top edge of all sides folded down and wrapped around wire, forming lip for lid. Lid hinged from wire at back. Edges of lid wrapped around wire, with hinged latch at front. At center of lid is an oval furniture brass handle and plate, probably a replacement. Box and lid japanned: black background, husk and dash borders in yellow around front and sides of box; red and pink border at top of box with pendant yellow, red, and pink leaf-like motifs; yellow leaf like motifs, husk border on lid. Box has transformer attached, two large and one small holes made for wires, etc (altered for electricity).
