DescriptionWood frame enclosing tinplate box with hinged door. Adapted to contain transformer (plug running outside). Four lathe-turned, baluster corner posts, inside corners of which cut away for box. Bail handle on frame. One cross piece on top of frame. Box flanged and soldered together. Strip of tinplate riveted above door opening (originally one below). Edge of door rolled around wire, hinged on one side. On top of box three groups of punched holes. On sides and door, pattern of punched holes: One large hole in center, around which diamond of small holes, around which circle of large holes, diamonds of small holes in four corners. Bottom and posts of frame stained; one painted black. Unusual that door opens from right (hinges on left). All other foot warmers in our collection have hinges on right.

Wired for electricity by Russell H. Kettell, probably around 1930. The footwarmer conceals a transformer for a low-voltage lighting system using candles by Electric Candle Company. Transformer inside box, wire with plug through back.
