DescriptionFireplace shovel. Handle hollow cast in halbes, brazed together (seams visible), finished on lathe. Turnings on handle: ring at bottom, slightly tapering straight section, ring, reel, large urn with ring of small raised ovals near the top ("gadrooning") and top edge somehow shaped (detail polished away), on top of which a smaller urn with same ring and edge. Extension of shaft goes through center of handle. Shaft is round in cross-section, tapering toward blade. At end shaft flattened and riveted to top of blade. Blade has rounded upper corners, flared lower corners, low wall, flat bottom edge. Lower corners cut off at angle. Black paint of some sort on blade?
