DescriptionOven shovel (fireplace shovel, kitchen shovel), wrought iron. Thin blade, flat, slightly curved up. Upper corners of blade rounded. Shaft welded (?) to blade, rectangular in section where welded, becomes round. End of shaft flattened, and two strips curve at top to form two loops of handle. Painted black? Used for shovelling in and out the coals with which an 18th century side oven was heated. 3'10".
