DescriptionWafting iron (air freshener). Consists of tinplate box with long wooden handle. Box slightly "V" shaped. Bottom and sides of one piece, bent and soldered at seams. Flanged to half of box only is a tinplate cover (does not move), decorated with pieced design of five almond-shaped holes in center surrounded by two rows of small round holes. Soldered to box is handle socket-- a slightly tapered tube of tinplate or iron with seam at bottom. Handle fits into socket, held in by nail at top. Handle turned on a lathe: two knobs at end, expands a little, then tapers to socket. Three incised rings at widest point. Handle painted and/or varnished at one time. "Wafting iron to conteract [counteract] odors."
