DescriptionPlaster, printed paper, iron, maple. Globe in a stand, held in place by brass rings which allow for spinning on pins at poles. Stand consists of four lathe-turned posts with two turned stretchers between opposite posts, lapped in center. Top piece of frame covered with paper. Globe itself has paper strips applied. Countries appear to have been painted various colors at one time, now faint. North and Central America outlined in red (not original?). Paper is varnished. Captain Cook's voyages are marked and dated. Antartica not shown, nor southern coast of Australia complete. Northern coast of N. America also not complete. Paper at top of stand has the months of the year, signs of the zodiac, and points of the compass.
