DescriptionChromolithograph on paper. Embossed and colored alphabet cards, doubled for standing. Each card has a "letter is for ___" phrase on the card that continues onto back. Minimal scenes are depicted behind each letter with full scenes corresponding to the letter's phrase on the back of the card. Letter "A" has the maker's marks. (front) Letter J is yellow with a branch and leaves behind it. "J for the Jackdaw,/a troublesome guest," (back) Black bird with a spoon held in its beak, standing over sticks. "He steals lots of things/ to hide in his nest." (front) Green letter K with leaves in background. "K stands for the Kid/who gambols around" (back) A brown and white goat with a blue collar stands in front of a fence, tied to a stake in the grass. "Frisking about/on the flowery ground."
