DescriptionLantern with tracery sides and sliding candle holder. Flat top and bottom with four side pieces nailed to them. Side pieces cut with three holes, in an ogee arch pattern. Outside edges of openings chamfered, inside edges rabbetted, into which are set thin pieces of greenish glass, held in place with nails. Four dowels on inside corners of lantern between top and bottom. Between two of these is candle rest, notched at each end to slide up and down along dowels. At one end of candle rest a vertical dowel, extends through hole in top of lantern, acting as handle to raise candle rest. Large hole in center of lantern top allows access to candle rest when fully raised. Over this hole is an iron bail handle. Possibly once painted black and/or white. On each side is scratched a roman numberal, I, II, III, and IIII, and same numbers appear on top piece next to the appropriately numbered side.
