DescriptionOven door, constructed of two pieces butted horizontally and joined with three dowels, one of which is exposed. Handle nailed to each piece with two nails. Front of door curved; handle curved as well. Top and left side of door beveled slightly. Right side beveled a great deal. Edges of handle also beveled. Top edge of door arched slightly, bottom also curved somewhat. Back of door charred. Front either painted black at one time, or has smoke stains. Probably altered to fit present fireplace, especially along bottom, and right side, where extra beveling exposed one of the dowels.
