DescriptionLate 1880s - early 1890s cotton two-piece dress in purple gingham with skirt (2024.9.2.2), bodice (2024.9.2.1), and collar (2024.9.2.3). Local or handmade. Bodice has light purple bands of ribbon with a cream colored lace border from the shoulders running down the front. The shoulders also have rows of purple ribbon details with cream colored lace borders. Stitching on ribbon details and collar suggest they're original to the garment. Bodice is fastened by a row of pearlescent buttons down the front. Small button hole in the bottom inside of the bodice perhaps used to attach the bodice to the skirt. Materials and construction details suggest it likely had the same maker as the striped two-piece dress, 2024.9.1.
