DescriptionStrip of fabric cut on the bias, possibly a ruffle that was never added to the skirt. Part of late 1880s - early 1890s silk two-piece dress with bodice (2024.9.1.1), and skirt (2024.9.1.3). Local or handmade. Example of middle-class daywear. Fabric is cream or tan colored with black stripes and rows of pairs of small rectangles between the stripes. Materials and construction details suggest it likely had the same maker as the striped two-piece dress, 2024.9.2.
