DescriptionLate 1880s - early 1890s silk two-piece dress with bodice (4.2024.3.1), possible ruffle fragment (4.2024.3.2), and skirt (4.2024.3.3). Local or handmade. Example of middle-class daywear. Fabric is cream or tan colored with black stripes and rows of pairs of small rectangles between the stripes. Skirt is floor length. Band of wool along the inside hem. Materials and construction details suggest it likely had the same maker as the striped two-piece dress, 4.2024.4.1-.3.
