DescriptionPliers-like instrument (sugar nippers) with blades on arms for cutting sugar from loaf. Two arms, one fits through slot in other with some sort of a pivot. Both handles flat on inside, rounded on outside, tapered to end. Riveted to inside of one handle is a metal strip spring which curves to other handle. Clasp at end of one handle fits over peg on end of other to hold closed. Handle without spring has a thick wire finger guard riveted on outside. Forward of pivot point, both arms curve out, then in, getting gradually flatter. At tip each is flattened and flared in a semiciruclar blade. c. 1/8" gap between blades when closed. Incised or impressed line decoration on handles at pivot, with circles.
