DescriptionFireset (H1404, H1405). Brass finial, acorn-shaped and flattned slightly on two sides on poker (missing from tongs). Iron shaft swells to small bulb under finial, extends through finial. Bulb and extension of shaft on tongs. Poker is simple iron rod with one end flattened, tapered, and bent at right angle to form a hook. Tongs have one arm with extension which fits into slot in other forming pivot. Arm squared at pivot poitn. Shoulders of each arm shaped to semi-circle, making complete circle when closed. Below shoulders, arms are round, and come together slightly toward tips. At tips they are curved together, and each tip is flattned and shaped to a circle.
