DescriptionVictorian style, Gothic revival hall chair. High back, low seat. Two front legs are rope turned. Two upright posts of the back are rope turned, topped with slender turned finials. A slender turned finial surmounts the top of back, and this is flanked by one on either side lower down. Solid oval back below carving, covered with needlepoint in an all-over Victorian pattern of blocks with flower centers. The chair seat is covered with the same needlepoint, which was worked by Miss Lucy Merriam Brigham's mother, especially for this chair. Apron is decorated on all four sides with a narrow band of spool turning, the cross piece below has seven points on each side.
