DescriptionCherry (maple?), rush. Pair of country Chippendale side chairs with rush seats. Serpentine crest rails, molded turned back ears. Pierced splats shaped with crest rails; bands at top that curve in and out, with scrolled ends, bottom pierced with two vertical slots and heart at center. Splats seated in lower back rail baove seat. Front legs straight, squared, outer edges reeded, inside edges chamfered, fit into ends of front seat rails. This strips allied to edges of rush seats. One stretcher each on sides, back and front (no median stretchers), all rectangular, tops slightly rounded, mortise & tenoned flush with legs.
