DescriptionMaple (?). Pair of "country" side chairs combining William & Mary, Queen Anne, and Chippendale elements. Serpentine crest rails, plain. Back posts angled back above and below seats, flared to sides slightly and tapered at tops. Solid, flat baluster splats, seated in rail above seat rail. Front legs have spanish feet, block and vase turnings. Rush seats. One stretcher each at front, back and sides (no median stretchers). Front stretchers with two large bulbs and ring at center. Back stretchers plain, round. Side stretchers rectangular, plain. Painted black, earlier coat of red.
