DescriptionMade by V[alentine]. Bernarda [Barnard] and [Paul] Cermenati, see maker info. Gilt pine and composition; enameled glass. Federal period, architectural style mirror. Large lower mirrored glass and smaller reverse painted glass at top, set in frame with applied wood and plaster decoration. Engaged, fluted half columns on blocks at each side. Capitals have water flowers and ionic volutes. Molding above capitals runs between pieces of glass. Above capitals are corbels with water leaves. Above this cornice molding across top of mirror: carved lower edge, broad cove molding, thin beading. Frame gilt. Pieces of gold paper glued on where pieces missing. Painting on top glass; center design of landscape with house, trees, lake, and hills in gold and black on white; all inside arch with rays, flanked by ovals with rays from them, all in black, gold and white. Gold foil paper applied by Cummings E. Davis. Pair with F1109.
