DescriptionBeech (European), cane, rush. William and Mary caned side chair with high narrow back. Crest rail mortise and tenoned into back posts, elaborately pierced and carved in Flemish scroll. Continuous molding around crest rail, vertical back rails, and lower back rail, with caning. Block and vase turned front legs, with ball feet. Painted black. Seat rush, originally caned.
