DescriptionChina head, cloth-stuffed body, cotton. China head doll with gold snood and a gold headband. Black hair has molded strands and is brushmarked around the face. Ears are partially exposed. Delicately painted blue eyes with red hollow circles indicating nostrils. Three sew holes in breastplate; thread sewn through outside two holes to attach head to cloth-stuffed body. Arms gathered at ends without hands. Legs, jointed at hips and knees, with shaped feet. Dress of red coarse cotton with black quatrefoil dots. Off-the-shoulder neckline, straight long sleeves, tight waist, and pleated skirt with six tucks about two inches up from hem. Three gold buttons in back. Wide red satin ribbon tied around waist and gray (?) satin bands at sleeves. White cotton chemise with ruffles around armholes. White cotton drawers that tie on side with two tucks and crocheted edging. Petticoat of white corded cotton. White cotton knit socks and white kid boots with black satin ribbon lacing. Necklace of small, blue, yellow, white, black and red glass beads.
