DescriptionOval serving tray. One piece bottom. Top edge of fence scalloped. Outer edge of bottom rounded. Fence sits on top of bottom, nailed or pegged from underneath. Some 2/3 of fence is a single piece of mahogany, remainder of fence is pieced of two pieces of maple. At joints of fence pieces, two pieces cut at an angle and lapped, and small splines fitted into slots on outside. One joint had a larger spline on inside, now missing. Brass handle at each end, each with uprights on inside of tray that are bolted through bottom. Spurs on handle wrap around top edge of fence. Top of handles scrolled out with volutes; cross pieces of handles swelled in center. Maple probably stained to match mahogany, all but bottom varnished.
