DescriptionLemon squeezer, two blocks of wood with handles hinged at end. Blocks and handles from same piece of wood, handles turned on lathe. Top block has wood half sphere nailed to inside. Bottom block has hole into which sphere fits, and five holes through to outside to allow juice to drain. On outside, where holes come through, are surrounded by a circle cut into block. Handles have molding at junction with handle, with three incised rings near end. Hinge consists of two sheet metal strips which fit into slots in each block and held in place by a metal pin of some sort. Bottom end of top block rounded on inside to allow it to swing open. Stained light brown. Most of squeezer mechanically made: blocks have regular cross-grain marks of a mechanical surface planer, and depression in bottom piece appears to have been mechanically produced. Maple?
