DescriptionPair of andirons with flat iron uprights split at bottom and flattened to paddle shapes to form feet. Top of uprights flattened and shaped to suggest a heart, with two incised lines making point at top. At tops of uprights are hollow cast brass finials. Turnings on finials: reel at bottom, wider shallower reel, bulbous ring, reel, roughtly octagonal knob at top. Just above log rest on front of each upright is a brass disk riveted with brass to upright. Edge of uprights to either side of disks have notches and lines in them. Log rests are heavy, short rectangular bars riveted through upright, bent down at angle at back to form rear leg. At top of one upright diamond-shaped plates riveted to front and back.
