DescriptionPine, oak. Six-board chest with hinged lid and interior compartment with hinged lid. Trestle feet, curve cut out of center bottom, front ends project and are molded. Bottom nailed on, edge projects, cut at angle. Sides, front, and back interlock, nailed together. Lid hinged at back with interlocking iron loops. Lid, sides, front, back & bottom all of single pieces of pine. Oak strips nailed to bottom of lid at ends. Interior compartment at right, consists of bottom sest on supports, and side fitted in grooves in front and back of chset, with lid that pivots. Two supports, probably for shelf, under compartment. Front & back of lid molded. Ends of lid and front corners notched. Two horizontal bands of molding across front. Apparently unfinished.
