DescriptionLacquered sewing box. Eight sided and stands on four gilded dragon feet. Rounded cover opens at back hinges and locks with a key. Bail handles at the sides. Decoration of Chinese bamboo, bird and tree design, done in gold on black ground. Interior lacqured plain black. Deep fitted (removable) tray with compartments fitted with ivory utensils for sewing. Two larger compartments have ivory knobs and decorated with a Chinese design in gold.
