DescriptionTea caddy, Hepplewhite style. Mahogany, inlaid with satinwood. Thin lines of satinwood edge the box, and form a border on the lid. In the center of the lid is an inlaid oval fan patera. The box contains three compartments fitted with mahogany lids and brass knobs. Such compartments in English tea-caddies were of course designed to hold the three kinds of tea, Young, Hyson, Souchong and Bonea. Evidently, however, Hubbard's grandmother, for whom this box was made, used it for spices, as two of the boxes still contain cinnamon and peppar.
