DescriptionAsh, maple (?). Narrow slip seat and straight reeded legs with straight under-bracing. Top rail curves down to meet stiles, and is pierced above the splat in a long slot by which the chair may be lifted. Splat is a simplified version of the fiddle-shaped splat with carved drapery and tassels. Covered with a sticky varnish. Chippendale?
