DescriptionBodice for Afternoon dress. Dress includes bodice (COS0042.0011.1) and skirt (COS0042.0011.2). Heavy, mouse-grey, "peau de soie"; bodice tight-fitting with buttons to neck line in front, back in princess style forming over-drapery to skirt; long postillion tails on hips with double cord of same silk; standing collar, elbow sleeves; probably had lace or ruches at neck and sleeves. Grey silk peau de soie. 2 piece jacket and skirt. Jacket with banded collar and forms overskirt at back. Train attached to bodice. Long bodice, like early 1880s, but with simple sleeves. c. 1885, or as late as 1888.
