DescriptionMassachusetts Militia musket. Steel, walnut, silver. Musket with full-length stock, brass fore end, brass ramrod guides, brass trigger guard. Lock converted to percussion, manufacturer's name erased. Stock decorated with silver wire and with silver inlays: opposite the lock, a federal sheild; on the cheek an eagle with wings outstretched with an olive branch in the beak, thirteen starts above and olive branch below; on the opposite side of the stock, the arms of the Massachusetts Militia, Massasoit with bow and arrow and a star in the shield.
