DescriptionWood and paper fan. Bamboo support, painted with purple flowers on exterior guards. Rice paper ground with elaborately painted floral bower in purple and pink. At center, painted figure of a woman in pink dress. A painted cherub appears on the bamboo sticks at center wearing soft pink and blue. Sticks cut in such a way to outline the shape of the dancing cherub and leave gaps in the design. Reverse side of sticks features a silver floral design. Attached white silk tassel. 1995.20.1-.197: fan collection.
