DescriptionManuscript and letterpress on paper, printed on top of page, "Concord/[Oct 16] 180[6]/Bo't of John White,/ at his variety store, where may be had a large assortment of English and W. India goods, by wholesale and retail, at the Boston prices. Also, a general assortment of painters oil and colors." In manuscript addressed to Mr. Potter, payment received for rum, sugar, tea and wine. Marked at bottom payment received by John White, signed John Thoreau. Paper receipt inside of Th59, pasteboard box.
Box contains pasteboard tray (inside box, Th59a) and a ribbon (Th59b, used to tie the pencils?). Box contains newspaper clippings (Th59c): a receipt signed by J. Thoreau (Th59d), on a John White billhead; a "specimen of native ribbon (Th59e);" two other bits of prints (Th59f); fragments of a letter of 1763 (Th59g).
