DescriptionBrass plaque mounted on a wooden board which reads: "BARRETT/ HUMPHREY BARRETT, in 1635, was one of the/ Founders of Concord/ COLONEL JAMES BARRETT/ on the nineteenth of April, 1775 gave command/ to the Minutemen to march to the attack/ at the North Bridge/ The building of this house by the/ CONCORD ANTIQUARIAN SOCIETY/ was made possible in 1929 by gifts in memory of/ Mr. and Mrs. Edwin Shepard Barrett" by the Barrett sisters, Mrs. David A. Baldwin, Mrs. Harry B. Little and Mrs. Maxwell M. Upson. The lettering was designed, submitted to Mr. Harry B. Little for approval, and the plate was made by the Birmingham Guild of Birmingham, England. Had a representative in Boston at the time the house was built. Not known if plaque was only designed in England, or whether it was cast there as well. Note in folder: This plaque was made by Mr. McGann, 27 Village St., Somerville, Mass.
