DescriptionSermon or confession? "As we are desirous to live in charity with the Church and people of God in this Town, so do we with to do every thing necessary in order thereunto; and therefore appear at this time, publickly to acknowledge our misconduct we acknowledge that we are by nature children o f wrath, because children of disobedience even in others that from the corrupt fountain of sin in us have freed (?) streams of rebellion against God we have particularly to lament and bewail it before God and his People that we have violated the laws of Chastity under aggravating circumstances werely we forfeited the charity of Gods people and wronged ourselves; we have sought of God thro Christ the forgiveness of this, and of all our sins and hope we share in his pardoning mercy thro Christs merits whose blood cleanseth from all sins we ask the forgiveness the church and people of God whom we have justly offended we pray you to accept of this our acknowledgement and extend your charity to us, and pray to God for us that in future life we may walk so circumspectly that the sincerity of this our acknowledgement may appear to all our observers."
