DescriptionH2076.1e: Brass compass with rotating bar. Compass is inscribed with degree marking and has two glass enclosures. In one enclosure lie two hands, and in the other glass enclosure, two vials filled with liquid for bubble balances. The rotating bar is inscribed "E. Whiton maker number 19 Groton Mass. 1828". Surveyor's instrument, chains and wooden stakes. Made by E. Whiton, Groton, Mass., serial no. 19, (year) 1828. Surveyor's instrument, chains and wooden stakes in a wooden box painted dark green, with two metal clasps on the front for fastening and a metal handle on the top.
