DescriptionH2076.1c: Surveyor's ruler or straight edge. Two strips of wood (very dark stain) attached with two brass brackets allowing for pivoting motion. Made by E. Whiton, Groton, Mass., serial no. 19, (year) 1828. Surveyor's instrument, chains and wooden stakes in a wooden box painted dark green, with two metal clasps on the front for fastening and a metal handle on the top.
