MarkingsMark on backing panel in ink. See file for accurate depiction, although it is very similar to "1816". If it does read 1816 it may indicate the date the backing was replaced, or some such. Mirror is not from 1816.

DescriptionWalnut veneer, pine. Style (William and Mary) characteristic of late 17th and early 18th century. Rectangular frame with veneered broad convex molding with bead at edge; surmounted by veneered crest with elaborate scrolling and piercing. Frame at back has four pieces finger jointed at corners. Crest is one piece of pine, with two braces. Glass has slightly beveled edge. Edges of frame stained red.
