DescriptionEvening dress, bodice (COS69.31.1) and skirt (COS69.31.2). Grey and gold rose design satin brocade lined throughout with yellow taffeta; waist low cut, heavily bones, laces in back; trimmed with pearl and silver bead fringe and ecru lace; puffed sleeves; skirt has train, pleated at back and flat in front, gray pleating around bottom. Silver silk brocade, 2 piece evening gown, skirt and bodice. Bodice has lace trim at sleeves, neckline. Bead fringe at bottom of bodice and at shoulders. Large scale fabric, typical of 1895. Beads usually early 1890s, but this has big sleeves, c. 1893. Sleeves an update, dress may have begun 1891-92.
