DescriptionCowhide box. Some hair still visible. Brass handle; brass lock & key. Key attached to box with a tattered string. Brass studs around edges. Inside is lined with newspapers. On top, John Thoreau's trade card attached with nails: "Plumbago/ Prepared/ Expressly for Electrotyping,/ By/ John Thoreau,/ Pencil Maker,/ Concord, Mass." Contained Th33a-h.
