DescriptionA hand fan composed of a turned wooden handle and a needlework mount. The handle is a dark colored wood, varnished. The mount is roughly square, with a geometric, "bargello" needlework pattern on one side in shades of pink, blue and green. The fabric is backed by an engraving on paper depicting a scene with a volcano. Text partially visible with the image reads: "... FATARA a remarkable mount ... near NAPLES which continual... / Sulfer and Allum ... of the Earth."
