DescriptionAn engraving, oval on yellow paper featuring the bust length portrait of a woman identified as Lady Jane Gray. The image is accompanied by the text: "Gospel Mag. Nov 1767. / LADY JANE GRAY / Daughter of the Marquis of Dorst was by her Mother nearly / related to the Crown, And she being a religious youn Lady of / very great accomplishments, Edlward VI thought of securing the Re-/ fromation from impending destruction, therefore appointed her his / Successor by a Deed of Settlement drawn up by the Judges. She / was Queen only nine days, and Princess Mary being proclaimed , Lady Jane was beheaded the 12th of February 1554. Aged 17 Years."
