Description(See also D2065.3B) An account of Mary Pitcher. Single sheet of folded paper with manuscript on it. Titled: "The Old Fortune Teller Mrs. Mary Pitcher or Old Moll Pitcher." QUOTE: "The Old Fortune Teller Mrs. Mary Pitcher or Old Moll Pitcher so called died in the year 1813 at the advanced age of 75 April 9 aged 75 years buried in the old graveyard opposite the South Street Church where her grave can still be seen Mr Hill of Lowell when he was a young man with two other young men when to have their fortunes told while at Lynn on a visit. One of them said on the way I hope we shall find the damed old bitch at home when they called at the house they inquired if Moll Pitcher lived there. She said, "Yes, I am her, and you have found the damed old bitch at home, They looked surprised at each other and thought it was queer she knew just what they said before and they told her they wanted to know if she could tell them their fortune. Mr Hill was the first she told him he would have seven wives He did not believe a word of it. She too told him he would see and have a long chat with one of them before he slept--He told her he knew better for she was so far he should not see her for a long time--but to his surprised she had come to his father's while his absence, and he remembered at once what Moll had told him, and strange to say Mr Hill lived to have seven wives and see them all dead Buried.
