MarkingsInitials "I.B." scratched into lid. Inside lid, an engraved table of weights and currency, at the bottom of which is the legend: "Sold by Rn. Billings in Cornhill, Boston". Scales were probably imported from England by this company. Label inside: "Dr. Joseph Hunt, 1749-1812".

DescriptionOak case, brass weights. Case is plain except for the slight scoring by intersecting parallel lines on the lid. Simple hook catch. Contains: balance scale, 4 round weights, 13 rectangular weights, and notecard that reads, "Dr. Joseph Hunt / Prescription Scales / He died in 1812".
