DescriptionBrush with cylindrical metal tube, open on one end (hollow). Dense hair bristles on the other end. Two brass stencils (.2 and .3), vial of ink (.4), and tin-handled brush (.5) all in an unpainted tin box (.1). One stencil reads "H. B. G. WHEELER / Co. G, 47th Mass. Regt."; the other, "FRANK B. BEMIS / Co. G. 47th Mass. Regt." The box and items inside are marked "2042". Civil War era. Used to identify a soldier's belongings.
