DescriptionGrease lamp (betty lamp). Small wick support lamp with cover. Bottom flat, sides vertical. In shape of an oval with an extended spout. Flat top, part over oval fixed, front part hinged. Rear of top has rivets that extend through to bottom. Semicircular slot cut at tip of hinged part of cover to allow wick to stick out. Riveted to bottom of pan and extending diagonally to front tip of pan is the wick support, a small trough in which wick is laid. Attached to back of lamp is a vertical arm, curved forward over center of lamp. At tip of this is attached an 11 link, "S" link chain with a pickwick. Painted black. Wired for electric light: Back of top piece pried up for wire; wick support bent up; "U" shaped piece cut from end of wick support to allow bulb to be put in. Brass fitting for mounting bulb under support.
