DescriptionA pair of two slippers (both numbered COS40.16a) to match reception dress. The shoes are undifferentiated. The upper is made of cream colored silk embroidered with pink, white and yellow flowers. The tongue is square, under crossed tabs, closed with an oval silver (possibly not original) buckle. The toe is rounded. The heel is "Louis" style, embroidered silk on the outer surfaces. The sole and insole are leathers. Spittalfield silk brocade, pale green blue flowered. silk typical of 1760s.
