DescriptionSoup tureen (C44) with cover (C44a). Earthenware, tin glazed. Body pinkish. Glaze with very slight blue tinge, showing pink in places where it is thinner and the body shows through. Whole set has ridges. Not smooth and flat. Painted in grey-blue and black with conventional borders and flower sprays. Three sprays on lid, four on body. Knob of fruit with foliage. Lid, probably an apple. Blue with the veins in the leaves in black. Tureen itself has one plain blue band around the indented foot and two around the top, with one semi-flowery band below these two rings and the sprays below this. Handles on the tureen are sculpted, upside-down horseshoe shaped, painted blue to bring out the sculpting. Lid has a flowery band around the bottom, then the sprays with the knob on top.
